The IGIFL Bilateral Treaties Compendium is a new project on IGIFL. The project aim is to develop a comprehensive and up-to-date compendium of bilateral fisheries agreements, together with summary files for each agreement. The project will be published in two stages. The first stage, which is currently scheduled for completion in late 2005, will consist of an indexed and searchable database of more than 700 bilateral treaties, protocols and memoranda in various languages. The second stage is to provide summaries (in English) for each treaty. When complete, the Compendium will contain a full index and advanced searching options.

Current progress: 564 out of 733 texts available. To be kept informed of developments on this website, including the publication of each stage of the Bilateral Treaties Project, please join our Announcement List.

Database usage notes
1. Some of the texts to be included in the final database have now been uploaded onto this website and can be accessed by using the free text search tool opposite or by browsing the draft comprehensive index. Currently, 564  out of 733 texts have been uploaded.
2. Some of the files in the database are of substantial size and may take some time to download, particularly if you are using a dial-up connection.
3. Because of the format that some of the texts are provided in, not all texts will register in the database search engine.
4. A number of the texts are provided only in the original languages, and not in English. Click here to go to an on-line translator.
5. The database includes both current and historic agreements and should not be construed as providing information on current fisheries relations between States. (Click here for general disclaimer).
