This volume is a collection of conference papers and is part of the series of publications on the law of the sea associated with the Center for Oceans Law and Policy, University of Virginia School of Law. This volume is based on presentations made at the Center's 24th Annual Conference held at FAO headquarters in March 2000. The papers (of which there are approximately 25) are presented in six sections, according to the conference panels. Panel I deals with the recent developments relating to the UN Fish Stocks Agreement; Panel II deals with the Compliance Agreement, Global Issues, and Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing; Panel III deals with the implementation of the LOS Convention, Compliance Agreement and UN Fish Stocks Agreement; Panel IV deals with the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries; Panel V with compliance issues and Panel VI with future directions in fisheries management.
