Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries
Text
and summary on this website.
FAO Code of Conduct homepage
A large amount of information is available on the FAO site. In addition to the text of
the Code and background information on its elaboration and other general information, including
information on its implementation, there are documents on the following aspects:
Agreements to Promote Fishery Conservation and
Management in International Waters
Very readable and quite lengthy overview of the FAO's Compliance Agreement and Code of
Conduct and the Straddling Stocks Agreement. Part of the U.S. Congressional Research Service Report
series, it is readable on-line.
A brief summary of the provisions of the Code is
contained on the Institute of Sustainable Development's Web-site, as part of a summary of
the UN Straddling Stocks Conference. Also on this site is a full on-line copy of
Volume 7 of the
Earth
Negotiation Bulletin. Although this concentrates on the Straddling Stocks Conference, a
number of issues give some background information on the Code. I have not listed the
relevant issues here, but there is a search facility for the Bulletin, which leads to the
relevant issues. (Use the keywords "code", "conduct",
"responsible", etc.).
