UN Fish Stocks Agreement: Entry into Force

On 11 December 2001, the United Nations Agreement on the Provisions of the Law of the Sea Convention relating to Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks entered into force. It needs not be said that this is a highly significant - if long overdue - event in the field of international fisheries management. This report seeks to provide an initial analysis of the impact of entry into force and to highlight coverage and other resources currently available regarding the agreement. The site includes an initial Commentary on entry into force and links to other Articles on the Agreement; a summary of the Status of the agreement; a Research Bibliography; a Guide to the Agreement; links to Media coverage and press statements and other related Links.
