jigging

INDEX

A method of fishing used to catch squid. Jigging is done at night and powerful lights are positioned along the vessel to attract the squid, which gather in the shaded area under the boat. The squid are caught as they feed by a line with several barbless lures which is hauled by an elliptical spool. The rotation of the spool as the line is wound creates the jigging action.
