Abstract |
|
|
The was the
first case to
come before the Tribunal
and was a request by Saint Vincent and
Grenadines that its vessel M/V
Saiga be promptly released
following its detention by Guinean
authorities. The Saiga was not
itself a fishing vessel but an oil tanker providing support to
fishing vessels operating in the area.
The Tribunal ordered the prompt release of the vessel upon the
posting of a reasonable bond or security, which it assessed to
be (1) the amount of gasoil
discharged from the Saiga; and (2) the amount of
US$ 400,000.
